The beacon for different sports
activities such as riding,
skating, skiing, jogging, swimming, cycling, canoeing, yachting.
The beacons guide the person with defective
vision from beacon to beacon.
As the user passes a beacon, it is automatically shut down as the next beacon
starts, thus providing guidance through the course. The beacon
sound can be varied with different controls on the underside of the beacon
that also allow the user to adjust the tone frequency, tone length, the pause time
between the tones, volume, signal time and sensitivity of the passing
control. An infrared sensor automatically performs the passing check
and shuts down the active beacon, while starting the next beacon. The
person with defective vision and any instructor constantly have full control
over the system. At any time the user may shut off the sound and start
another beacon.
